• Jim asked about a way to connect people in a very small local area both to onboard & manage the community. How to make it easy to install a Fediverse client, create a user, finding other people in the local are group.
• narF running in person group to move people away from Meta (https://nextcloud.narf.ca/s/s2iGJxDE2MAWjkn) - they wanted more than social media.
  • We asked participants who wanted to stay in touch and how. They decided to make a Signal group. That group is still very active 6 months later.
• Is there something about walking/guiding people through each step to find alternatives to … and then get set up on it?
• Matching system might be useful across different use cases; connecting with people with similar interests on the Fedi to build friendships & connections, and also finding people locally to help with specific things.
• narF is talking about Mutual Aid in terms of what their girlfriend wants, to share what people can offer to each other in a local area (their building),
  • Help with stuff like help to feed the cat, water the plants, watch the kids, help cooking together, etc. (Maybe one day start a tenant’s union?!)
  • An online tool might be too difficult/too much efforts for most people, especially old folks or people with reading disability.
  • The solution might be a physical pinboard with paper. No accounts, no password to remember
• Travis wants to build a database that allows job matching/social matching/dating. A billboard app is a suggestion to populate that database

• Issue with trying to connect people with skills & want to share them with communities & projects who need those skills.
• Alexis suggested a bot that walks people through choosing a platform (Mastodon, Pixelfed, etc), and a then a server based on their interests, and then how to connect with people (people on that server who have X interests & opt in to be connected with newbies).
