FediForum and Open Social Web Community Events

More people than ever are questioning where their data lives, who owns their feeds and whether there’s an alternative to commercial platforms they no longer trust. FediDay is where people who care about answers for that come together — to show and tell, to build, to debate and think out loud to find solutions together.

Maybe you’re already on Mastodon, Pixelfed or PeerTube. Maybe decentralised social media touches your work without you thinking of it that way. Either way: If you have something to say, show, or ask: We want to invite you — developers, researchers, journalists, lawyers, artists, and everything in between.

The Fediverse and the ATProto/Bluesky community don’t always agree — and that’s fine. We’re inviting the conversation, particularly with those building bridges between our worlds.

FediDay 2026 takes place from September 11th to 13th aboard c-base in Berlin — a hackerspace located in the ruins of a spacestation that crashed here 3.5 billion years ago. We start Friday evening, when the best conversations happen anyway, and continue Saturday and Sunday across three stages.

FediDev KR and FediLUG (Japan) are pleased to announce the Fediverse & Social Web track at COSCUP 2026, and invite participants to submit proposals for talks.

COSCUP (Conference for Open Source Coders, Users, and Promoters) is a free, community-run open source conference held annually in Taipei, Taiwan. Think FOSDEM, but in East Asia. This year it takes place August 8–9 at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, and is co-hosted with UbuCon Asia 2026.

The Fediverse & Social Web track runs for a full day, six hours in total. It is the first dedicated fediverse track at a major open source conference in East Asia, and we hope it becomes a regular gathering point for the fediverse community in the region.

DWeb Camp 2026: Root Systems is a five-day gathering in nature for builders and dreamers dedicated to building a decentralized web (DWeb). A web that is private, resilient, and beyond the control of a few central powers. Like forests, decentralized systems derive strength from what lies beneath the surface: dense networks of roots, sharing resources without hierarchy, and coordination that persists even when individual nodes disappear.

DWeb Camp: Root Systems invites participants to build technologies that–like living ecosystems–adapt, regenerate, and endure.

The sixth edition of the PublicSpaces Conference focuses on the impact of technology on our democracy, including a track called The Next Socials, which will award the first Open Social Award.

Just like last year, the Social Web Foundation is organizing a Devroom at FOSDEM 2026. FOSDEM is a premier free and open source software event in Brussels, Belgium, that brings together thousands of enthusiasts from around the world.
