Notes
Needs:
- Communicating about Fediverse to Dutch stakeholders
- Tools to explain benefits / recruit engineers
- Academic stakeholders and context
- How to overcome the comms people who just don’t buy the idealistic stance for fediverse and only look at the statistics
From Babette, who works on communication for Dutch academia (research project on academic staff engagement on Mastodon):
- People were more likely to join Mastodon if their peers were on it, rather than just from a recommendation
- Lack of institutional support is a major challenge
- Support by public institutions who are already present in the fediverse is crucial
