Private posting and other privacy in the fediverse
/2023-03/session/6-d/
Convener: James Marshall
Key points:
- Ended up being a discussion of the federated secure social media app James is writing, that hides both posts and post metadata from servers.
- Unfortunately, this can’t use ActivityPub, because AP requires servers to know the social graphs of their users.
- Use case for this is people who don’t trust their servers, such as people under state surveillance, who have large resources to surveil
- App is currently working, but needs UX work, a security review, and testers.
