WebSocialBR

3 December 2025

Alquimídia, coordinated by Thiago Skárnio, member of the FediForum advisory board, will hold the 1st WebSocialBR – Brazilian Fediverse Forum on December 3rd in Brasília (Brazil’s capital). The event will bring together community administrators, managers, parliamentarians, researchers, and communicators to exchange experiences and strengthen decentralized networks in the country. It is supported by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br), the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), POP Solutions, the MCTI — Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and FediForum.

The program includes discussion panels about the Fediverse, and the meeting will be held in the auditorium of the MCTI — Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Among the confirmed participants are Renata Mielli, Coordinator of the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br); Marco Konopacki from the Social Communication Secretariat (SECOM); José Murilo from the Brazilian Institute of Museums (Ibram), and virtual participation from Evan Prodromou, co-creator of ActivityPub and the Social Web Foundation, and Johannes Ernst, Open Social Web innovator and co-founder of FediForum.

FediForum at SFSCON

7–8 November 2025

FediForum is partnering with SFSCON, a free software conference in Bolzano, in the Italian alps, on a Fediverse track with 12 confirmed talks spanning technology, policy and community, plus a BOF session and an exhibit.

FediForum Fall 2025

7–8 October 2025

FediForum Fall 2025 again brought together the global community of people who move the Open Social Web forward, for two half-days of online connecting, learning, teaching, debating and building. And starting new projects.

Der 2. Berliner Fediverse Tag findet am 4.10.2025 auf der Berliner c-base statt. Er ist eine Konferenz zum Fediverse mit Workshops und Vorträgen für Interessierte, Neulinge und alte Hasen. In German.

This will be the first-ever FediForum book tour event! Come to hear excerpts from the book, and bring your questions about the Fediverse and, as he says, “the struggle for democratic social media”!

Fediverse Village at HOPE

15–17 August 2025

HOPE (Hackers on Planet Earth) is a grass-roots conference for hackers and developers in Queens in New York City. Evan Prodromou spoke on Aug 15, and the Social Web Foundation organized a Fediverse Village.

FediCon Vancouver

1–2 August 2025

The Fediverse is meeting IRL! FediCon is a Fediverse and Social Web conference in Vancouver (Canada) on August 1st and 2nd. Talks. Demos. Panels. Real humans.

FediForum June 2025

5–7 June 2025

FediForum June 2025 will again bring together the global community of people who move the Open Social Web forward, for two three half-days of connecting, learning, teaching, debating and building. And starting new projects. With a new advisory board, reconstituted organizing team and an updated format that includes keynotes.

re:publica

26–28 May 2025

A national event on Digital Culture and Free Media in São Paulo (SP), Brazil, with the objective of discussing the various aspects of digital and popular sovereignty. The event includes a Workshop on Fediverse, taught by Thiago Skárnio on May 22nd.
Mistpark/Friendika/Friendica, RedMatrix, Hubzilla, Zap, Roadhouse, Osada, the streams repository, Forte etc. started out 15 years ago. Celebrations will be held in the fediverse, globally across all timezones.
Organized by a German federal ministry, Wikimedia Germany and partners, this German-language online event will explore how decentralized platforms like Mastodon and PeerTube offer community-driven, public-interest alternatives to commercial social media. No tech skills required!

Fediverse House at SXSW

9–10 March 2025

Flipboard + Surf.Social is hosting the first-ever Fediverse House in Austin, Texas, on March 9 and 10, 2025, and is looking to invite FediForum community members into the space.
