The purpose of this session is to make a directory of interesting, Fediverse-related conferences that are not North-America-centric and/or not English-language-centric. Perhaps some people will add these conferences to the FediForum events directory. This session does not need to describe everything about a conference. It is enough to give people a link so that they can find out more on their own.

  • COSCUP

    • Languages: Mandarin, English, Korean, Japanese

    • About: Conference for Open Source Coders, Users & Promoters. A long-running conference organised by grassroots computer enthusiasts in Taiwan and nearby countries. Tremendously well-organised and friendly. In 2026 they added a Fediverse track.

  • WebSocialBR

    • Location: Brazil

    • Languages: Brazilian Portuguese, English

    • About: “The WebSocialBR proposal is to bring together community administrators, managers, parliamentarians, researchers, and communicators to exchange experiences and strengthen this ecosystem in Brazil.”

  • Open Source Summit Japan

    • Location: Tokyo, Japan

    • Languages: English, captioning and audio translation available

    • About: “Open Source Summit is the premier event for open source developers, technologists, and community leaders to collaborate, share information, solve problems, and gain knowledge, furthering open source innovation and ensuring a sustainable open source ecosystem. It is the gathering place for open-source code and community contributors.” Linux-centric. I do not see mention of a Fediverse track. But, it is “A Cross-Domain Home for the Entire Open Source Ecosystem”, which should include Fediverse.

    • Location: cities in Japan: Tokyo, Nagaoka, Yamaguchi, Okinawa, Osaka.

    • Languages: Japanese

    • About: “This event showcases the current state of open source.” (オープンソースの今を伝えるイベントです.) I do not see mention of a Fediverse track.

  • RightsCon

    • URL: https://rightscon.org

    • Location: different country each year

    • Languages: English-centric but has many sessions in other languages

    • About: really good global conference at the intersection of tech + human rights, makes special effort to recruit attendees from all over the world; social media is an ongoing topic

  • FOSDEM

    • Location: Brussels, Belgium

    • Languages: English

    • About: A major conference on all things open source. Includes social web track.
