Notes

  • Demo of and overview of Fedica

  • Lets you connect (almost) every social media account to your Fedica account

  • Write a single post, tailor it for each specific social media account (tweak wording for Facebook, post video for Youtobe)

  • Can define audiences to address. Can define which hours your audience goes online. Can segment by location (for X only)

  • Can define “pipelines”.

  • Can have Fedica subscribe to your blog so that it posts each blog as you publish it

  • Analytics. Fetch analytics from each platform. Can filter out bot-like followers from engagement numbers.

  • Management tools. e.g. segment audience e.g. find profiles which include a word, or have more than a certain number of followers

  • Research tools, e.g. measure overlap between follower bases of different accounts

  • It can insert the same set of hashtags into each post

  • Feedback: interest in support for podcasting apps

  • Feedback: interest in support for “threadivers”: Lemmy, nodebb, etc.

  • Feedback: this will be a game-changer for politicians to reach many platforms

  • Fedica complies with Canadian law, but is close to GDPR. Canada maintains “adequacy status” with EU regarding flow of personal data between Canada and EU.

  • Fedica is GDPR compliant (DPA is available)

  • Q: How do you classify gender? A: we have algorithms to read gender metadata, and infer gender from clues.

  • Government user says, we must register each algorithm which our software uses (to profile users)

  • Fedica offers several plans with subsets of features. Can buy the plan with only the features you want

  • Feedback: please prepare your infrastructure for globally-inclusive fediverse handles. Response: developer is well aware of internationalisation. Demo of UI in Arabic, wiht right-to-left layout, as demonstration of awareness.

  • Q: have APIs gotten worse over time? A: Facebook and Twitter APIs used to be better, then Cambridge Analytica scandal happened.
