  • History of some of the terms: Fediverse, ATmosphere, Social Web, Open Social Web

  • Q: Do we have a social web browser?

  • Normal people don’t relate to the geeky “Fediverse”

  • Many different definitions of “social” (particularly the noun)

  • toot.wales is a great app

  • Working on making the toot.wales app available to anybody who wants their own app

  • Data isn’t captured by a place.

  • Do we have one Open Social Web / Fediverse? Multiple?

  • Freedom of association and freedom of non-association

  • IndieWeb has beautiful contribution

  • What questions would one expect new users to have?

    • How would experienced folks answer them?
  • There are three fediverses:

    • have an account where you can send messages
    • toot.wales is a place that reflects existing community
    • intentional communities: “I’m going to make a space”
